Setup Reference
What has to already exist before an operator can scan a real transaction. Kept short on purpose — the numbered, step-by-step walkthrough lives on the how-to page; this page is the reference list of what those steps assume.
Prerequisites
- A Business Central environment with WarehouseQ installed.
- At least one location set up the way you actually want to scan against it. WarehouseQ reads your existing location and bin configuration rather than requiring a separate setup of its own — see warehouse topology, explained for what that configuration can look like at every rung of the ladder, from a single un-bin-mandatory location to full directed put-away and pick.
- A phone or tablet with a camera, or a paired hardware scanner, for each operator.
- A license assigned to each operator who will scan — see licensing & permissions for the two permission levels and what each one needs.
What an admin does
- Install WarehouseQ into the Business Central environment.
- Assign the warehouse-operator permission level to floor staff, and the administrator level to whoever configures and monitors the app.
- Open the mobile access page inside Business Central and hand the device-pairing step to each operator — the exact mechanics are in the first-scan walkthrough.
There’s deliberately no separate warehouse-configuration step beyond that. The mobile experience reads whatever your location and bin setup already is; if a location isn’t ready for a given operation, WarehouseQ declines to offer it rather than letting an operator attempt something that location genuinely can’t support. That’s the same mechanism described on operations covered and warehouse topology, explained — nothing extra to configure here beyond permissions and device pairing.
