Does the app’s record actually match what Business Central’s ledger says, or can they drift apart?

Both are true, depending on the Binding Mode. Where a container’s contents are package-tracked, Business Central’s own posting engine enforces the bond directly — the container and its contents can’t come apart. Everywhere else, ContainerQ keeps its own record and continuously re-checks it against the ledger, and shows you the result on the container itself, so you always know whether that record is currently confirmed or in question rather than assuming it’s right. Is this real license plating, or a barcode stuck on a spreadsheet?

It’s real license plating in the sense that matters: each container’s number is the identity Business Central itself knows about, not a label printed alongside a separate spreadsheet nobody keeps in sync. What happens when someone posts a normal Business Central transaction that doesn’t go through this app?

It depends on the Binding Mode again. For package-tracked contents, that transaction has to go through Business Central’s own tracking regardless of which app or page it was posted from, so the container’s identity holds. For everything else, a transaction that moves or consumes stock without touching the container’s own record is exactly what causes drift — which is why ContainerQ re-checks continuously rather than only at the moment you happen to look. Does it work with the lot, serial, and package tracking I already use?

Yes. ContainerQ attaches item tracking — lot, serial, and package numbers, and expiration dates — the way Business Central actually requires, rather than working around it. Using ContainerQ doesn’t change how your items are tracked; it works with the item tracking setup you already have.

Can I put a hold on an entire pallet, and does it actually stop nested operations?

You can put a hold on a container, and it’s designed to stop posting activity against it and against everything nested inside it — not just the container itself. See quality holds.

Can I nest containers, and does the system know what’s really inside three levels down?

Yes, generally — nesting is built to work multiple levels deep, and a container’s record is meant to account for everything nested beneath it, not just what’s packed directly onto it. See nesting and multi-level containers explained.

What labels does it print — real standards-based barcode or proprietary?

Standards-based. Every label carries an SSCC-18 as GS1-128, conformant to the GS1 standard — never a proprietary numbering scheme. “Conformant to the standard” is a specific, honest claim about the number and its encoding; it’s not the same as certifying that a given printer and label stock will scan cleanly on any particular trading partner’s dock equipment. Does it work on its own, or do I need other apps too?

On its own. ContainerQ is a standalone product — install it, license your users, and it does its whole job without requiring any other Business Dynamics Pro app alongside it.

Does it replace or require BDP WarehouseQ?

Neither. ContainerQ and BDP WarehouseQ are two separate products that coexist — WarehouseQ ships its own separate, first-party license-plate capability and doesn’t depend on ContainerQ, and ContainerQ doesn’t require WarehouseQ either. See working alongside WarehouseQ.

What does it cost?

Pricing isn’t published yet — ContainerQ hasn’t been submitted to AppSource. Nothing on this site should be read as a price commitment.

Is ContainerQ available on Microsoft AppSource today?

Not yet. This Help Center exists ahead of that submission. Everything described here reflects the currently shipping build of the product, not a marketplace listing.

What do I need to set up before printing a real, trading-partner-ready label?

A real, verified GS1 Company Prefix. Until it’s entered, ContainerQ prints every label with a visible “internal use only” watermark, on purpose, so a practice label from setup or training can never be mistaken for a real one. See the setup reference.

How do I get started, and how long before my first real pallet is tracked?

What doesn’t ContainerQ do yet?

ContainerQ is early-stage. Some of what’s described elsewhere on this site — like splitting and merging containers, or receiving and shipping stock directly through a container — is designed but not yet available in the shipped product. Building, packing, moving, and nesting containers, with Binding-Mode-aware posting and a continuously re-checked ledger record, is what’s real today.
