Before vs. with SmartFlow APS
What changes for your production planner on day one.
Without APS
- •Business Central Production Schedule list-view only — no Gantt, no drag-drop.
- •Sequence decisions made in Excel; no link back to Business Central.
- •Setup time minimized by tribal knowledge; lost when planner leaves.
- •Capacity overload found at the Work Center — too late.
- •"Why is this order late?" answered after the fact.
With SmartFlow APS
- Interactive Gantt embedded natively in Business Central — drag, drop, snap.
- Optimized sequences write back to Production Order routing lines.
- Changeover matrices encode setup penalties; institutional knowledge in Business Central.
- Capacity heatmap — overload visible before it ships.
- Snapshot & restore: capture a checkpoint before any change, restore in one click.
What you get
A complete advanced planning & scheduling stack — without leaving Business Central.
Interactive Gantt Scheduler
Visual finite-capacity production scheduler embedded natively in Business Central via Control Add-in.
Drag-and-Drop Rescheduling
Move production order routing lines on the Gantt chart with instant capacity feedback and conflict detection.
Capacity Heatmaps
Per-Work-Center utilization view with thresholds for warning and critical overload.
Material Availability Checks
Hooks into base Business Central inventory and planning to flag short components before you commit a sequence.
Sequence Optimizer
Proprietary BDP optimization engine that minimizes setup time, tardiness, and makespan against your weighted objectives.
Changeover Matrices
Define attribute-based changeover penalties so the optimizer respects real-world setup costs.
KPI Dashboards
On-time delivery, late hours, makespan, average setup — refreshed on every schedule change.
Snapshot & Restore
Capture a checkpoint before any change and restore it in one click.
How activation works
From zero to optimized sequences in five steps.
- 1
Click "Get it now" on AppSource
Microsoft handles the purchase flow. You'll be redirected to a branded confirmation page on dynamicspro.ca.
- 2
Open Business Central
Microsoft installs the extension into your tenant. Search for SmartFlow APS Setup.
- 3
Click "Activate Extension"
A 7-day trial clock starts on our server-side ledger. The countdown is tied to your tenant ID — uninstalling and reinstalling won't reset it.
- 4
Use the Scheduler
Open SmartFlow APS Scheduler, generate cupcake demo data if you don't have production orders yet, and try Optimize Sequence.
- 5
Subscribe before day 7
Click Subscribe on AppSource on the Setup page or the in-product banner to convert your trial. Microsoft handles billing.
Frequently asked questions
How does the 7-day free trial work?
Install BDP SmartFlow APS from Microsoft AppSource, open Business Central, search for "SmartFlow APS Setup", and click Activate Extension. The 7-day trial starts immediately. The trial clock is server-tracked — uninstalling and reinstalling does not reset it.
What happens after the 7-day trial ends?
Without a paid subscription, the Scheduler page becomes view-only — you can still see your production orders, accepted sequences, and snapshots, but optimization (both the in-product quick optimizer and the cloud sequence optimizer) and conflict detection pause. The moment a subscription is purchased on Microsoft AppSource, everything resumes automatically: no reinstall, no data migration, no re-entry of constraints, weights, or changeover matrices. Your activation history is tracked server-side, so the trial cannot be reset by uninstalling and reinstalling the extension.
How does the optimization engine work?
The optimization engine is proprietary BDP technology. You configure the inputs (production orders, work centers, changeover matrices, attribute groups, due dates, objective weights, time limits) directly in Business Central. The engine evaluates those inputs and returns an optimized sequence that you can accept, modify, or reject.
Where is my data stored?
Your Business Central data stays inside your Business Central tenant — we do not maintain a copy of your production orders, items, BOMs, or routing data. We do not retain your business data after each optimization response. Operational telemetry (request count, error rates, latency) is kept for billing, capacity planning, and support; it does not contain your production data.
Does this require Business Central Premium?
Yes. Manufacturing tables (Production Order, Work Center, Routing) are gated by Business Central Premium. SmartFlow APS detects this at install and shows guidance if your company is on Essential.
How do I cancel?
Microsoft 365 Admin Center → Subscriptions → SmartFlow APS → Cancel. Microsoft handles billing; we are notified via webhook and the in-product banner updates within 15 minutes.
Ready to ship sequences your floor will follow?
7 days free. No credit card. Cancel anytime in M365 admin.
